That's Not a Marriage (Eso no es un matrimonio)
By: John Stonestree

Could you answer this loaded question? For the Chuck Colson Center for Christian Worldview, I’m John Stonestreet with The Point.

After finding himself in the lion’s den time and again, Ryan Anderson of The Heritage Foundation has developed a strong understanding of marriage, and thick skin.

“Why should I, as a gay man, not have the right to file a joint tax return [with my partner]?” a student asked Ryan recently at Stanford University.

Anderson responded: “Because that’s not a marriage.”

“Marriage,” Anderson said, “is a permanently exclusive union of man and woman, husband and wife, mother and father. If you’re not interested in that sort of a union, you’re not being discriminated against. What you’re asking us to do is redefine marriage to include the adult relationship of your choice.”

And if complementary sexes—male and female—aren’t essential to marriage, then why would the number 2 be essential? Why not three? Why not four? The point: If marriage can mean anything, then it means nothing.
